Carlos is a real estate practitioner, with a specialization in representing condominium, cooperative and homeowner associations. He is a Florida Bar Board Certified Expert in Condominium and Planned Development Law – an accomplishment achieved by less than 0.2% of Florida’s attorneys.
Carlos’ community association practice includes turnover assistance, insurance coverage, property damage, creditor rights, bankruptcy, eminent domain, fair housing, corporate governance, contract drafting, dispute resolution, collections, foreclosure, covenant enforcement, and document interpretation and amendments. Carlos also has broad experience in real estate transactions, closings, mortgage foreclosures, and residential and commercial landlord/tenant issues.
Carlos is an experienced litigator admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, federal and bankruptcy courts in the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. In representation of his clients, Carlos attempts to facilitate resolution of all issues without the need for litigation, thereby saving his clients the financial and emotional costs of courtroom actions. When not possible, he has successfully litigated hundreds of cases in Florida courts.
As an AV Preeminent-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Carlos was recognized by his peers in the 2016 – 2019 editions of Florida Trend’s “Legal Elite,” awarded to the top 2 percent of practicing attorneys in the state, and the 2020-2022 editions of Florida Super Lawyers, as one of the top 5 percent of practicing attorneys in the state, for his achievements in his real estate practice.
Carlos has been a member of and featured speaker at many industry groups and local organizations regarding real estate and community association law issues, including lecturing at numerous continuing education classes for community association board members and managers.
